FunMats would like to congratulate Team GB on their success so far at the London Olympics. There are too many medallists to mention individually but we would like to say well done to them all. It is a great time to be British and we all should celebrate the history and achievements of our country.

National Storytelling Week Starts on Monday (28th Jan)

Now in it's 12th year National Storytelling Week, the annual event organised by Society for Storytelling, is being held next week. The week is packed with events nationwide to celebrate the importance and power of storytelling. See the website to find an event near you.

Imagination and creativity, the key skills in storytelling are the same qualities required for creating great art too. After all storytelling is using words to paint pictures. Indeed most great works of art seek to communicate a message or story; meaning that great storytelling and great artistry are very closely related.

Name That Lion!

We have been using the drawing of a lion as part of our logo for a couple of years now. Shockingly we realised that he doesn't yet have a name! So it was decided to start a competition on our facebook page to 'Name The Lion'. Head over to our page for details of the competition which will be posted very soon, oh and put your thinking caps on.

Next year (2012) is The Queen's diamond jubilee.
National Pet Month

We have known for a while that a theme is a good way of guiding young children's creativity to produce great artwork. The upcoming National Pet Month is a great hook for themes based around pets & animals: my pet, my dream pet, which country does my pet come from, what pets eat and of course the colours, patterns & textures of different species.
National Pet Month starts on the 3rd of April.
